A state commission on the preparation of textbooks and teaching materials in the humanities and social studies sphere and the definition of its main areas of work will be created in Belarus. The textbooks are to be updated “in accordance with state interests”. The corresponding order was signed today by Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
“The adoption of the order is aimed at ensuring the gradual renewal of textbooks and teaching materials on the basis of unified conceptual approaches to such literature at all levels of education in accordance with state interests”, Lukashenka’s press service said.
The commission will be headed by the education minister. Its members will include prominent scholars, lecturers, practising teachers in the humanities and social studies disciplines, as well as representatives of republican state administration bodies, the parliamentary corps and public associations.
The Education Ministry has been tasked with providing organisational and methodological support for the commission’s activities and improving the content of textbooks and teaching materials over the next five years.
