BYSOL is calling for support for Belarusian volunteers on the anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Three personal fundraising campaigns for Belarusian fighters are available on the organisation’s website, with target amounts ranging from 550 to 2,200 euros.

One of the fundraisers is for a fighter with the call sign Kozak, who evacuated wounded soldiers from the front line. After a serious injury and surgery, he was left without an income. A total of 550 euros is needed for rehabilitation and to support his family for four to six weeks.

The second fundraiser is intended for a Belarusian who defended Ukraine from the start of the invasion and later returned to the front as a UAV operator. The funds are needed to complete his equipment.

The third fundraiser has been organised for a volunteer with the call sign Raccoon, a tactical training instructor within the Armed Forces of Ukraine who prepares new recruits for combat. The money will be used to purchase a generator, a charging station, and heating equipment for training sessions without heating and electricity.

“Fundraisers for volunteers are vital. Literally. Because people’s lives and health often depend on them. We wish Ukraine victory and want our fighters to preserve their lives, to be able to return to their families and to civilian life after the war. This is also our shared contribution to the defence of Ukraine,” said BYSOL’s representative in Ukraine, Masha Animiya.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, more than 1,500 Belarusians have passed through the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and taken part in combat operations. Among them are participants in protests and people subjected to political persecution in Belarus. Belarusian volunteers remain the largest group of foreign fighters from Europe in the Ukrainian army.
