An indictment has been filed in a Polish court against 28-year-old Belarusian citizen Vitaly S., who is accused of preparing an act of sabotage on behalf of a foreign intelligence service.
According to Poland’s Internal Security Agency, the man worked as a bartender at a restaurant in Lublin.
Acting on instructions from a foreign intelligence service, he allegedly prepared to set fire to a warehouse in Chełm. He is accused of conducting reconnaissance of the site, recording video footage of the warehouse and sending the collected information to his handler via Telegram. He was allegedly paid in cryptocurrency for the task.
The agency said it uncovered the preparations before the alleged attack could be carried out. The man was arrested on August 13, 2025, and has remained in custody since then.
In addition to the espionage charge, the indictment also includes a charge related to the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs.
