The Belarusian Ski Union has won its case against the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
On 21 October, the FIS Council decided to bar athletes from Belarus from taking part in qualification events for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games as Individual Neutral Athletes.
On 11 November, the Belarusian Ski Union filed an appeal against the decision. The hearing took place on 26 November.
On 2 December, CAS issued a ruling overturning the FIS decision, the Belarusian Ski Union’s press service reported.
“The decision of the Council of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation of 21 October 2025 is ANNULLED, as it prohibits Belarusian athletes who meet the criteria set by the International Olympic Committee for participation as Individual Neutral Athletes (AIN) at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan–Cortina from competing in events and qualification events recognised by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation,” CAS stated.
Belarusian skiers who meet the IOC requirements for Individual Neutral Athletes and qualify for participation may now take part in qualification and selection events for the 2026 Olympic Games.
