Lithuania has stepped up security at critical infrastructure sites amid reports of possible Russian provocations. This was stated by Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas in an interview with LRT.
“We have already completed certain preparatory work and strengthened the protection of Lithuania’s critical infrastructure facilities. The Ministry of the Interior requested that the Ministry of Defence reinforce these measures, both in terms of equipment and personnel. This step has already been taken, and we continue to analyse incoming intelligence on a daily basis in order to prevent possible hybrid attacks,” he said.
Kaunas added that no specific timeframe has been set for the enhanced security measures, but that Lithuania is “assessing the situation and monitoring Russia’s aggressive rhetoric, unfounded accusations against the Baltic states, and provocative behaviour.”
