Belarusian Investigators Launch Inquiry Into Children’s Poisoning in Barysau

The Belarusian Investigative Committee has launched an inquiry into the mass food poisoning of children in Barysau on the instructions of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, which reported the case, 29 children from various educational institutions were admitted to the emergency department of the Barysau Central District Hospital on June 2 and 3. All showed signs of food poisoning.

Following the inquiry, investigators will determine whether criminal proceedings are warranted. The Health Ministry and the Education Ministry have been instructed to carry out the necessary sanitary and anti-epidemic measures.

As previously reported, 27 children with symptoms including vomiting and nausea were admitted to the infectious diseases ward of the Barysau Central District Hospital on the evening of June 2. Two more people later sought medical assistance with similar symptoms.
