Belarus’ State Border Committee reported two drone-related incidents that occurred on June 8 and 9.

On June 8, a Belarusian citizen was detained in the Brest district near the state border. He was carrying a homemade fixed-wing drone and equipment used to launch it. The aircraft and its components were confiscated. Administrative proceedings were initiated for violating border regime regulations. Authorities also said the man’s actions showed signs of violating airspace usage rules and regulations governing civilian drones. He faces a fine of up to 130 base units and confiscation of the drone.

On June 9, a resident of Lida attempted to bring two drones into Belarus from the European Union through the Bruzgi border checkpoint. The aircraft were seized by officers of the Hrodna Border Group.

Since the beginning of 2026, border guards have identified 12 cases involving the illegal import of drones from EU countries, as well as incidents involving their storage and use in Belarus.

Under a decree signed by Aliaksandr Lukashenka on Sept. 25, 2023, individuals in Belarus are prohibited from importing, storing, operating or manufacturing civilian unmanned aerial vehicles. Violators face a fine of up to 30 base units and confiscation of the drone. A repeat offense within one year may result in criminal liability.

Violations of airspace usage rules or regulations governing model aircraft are also punishable by fines of up to 50 base units.
