A control exercise on managing missile strikes using the Polonez-M multiple launch rocket system and the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system is underway in the Belarusian army.
The Defense Ministry’s press service reported that the exercise is being conducted, among other locations, at a considerable distance from permanent deployment points, in forested and marshy terrain. According to the head of missile forces and artillery of the Armed Forces — head of the missile forces and artillery directorate of the General Staff, Major General Ruslan Chekhau, several military units were involved. They operated at three training grounds and in several terrain sectors.
“For all missile forces units these were unfamiliar locations, which of course complicated their work. During the control exercise there were numerous movements; they conducted long-distance marches of up to 300 kilometers. There were no equipment failures,” he said.
The exercise also included practicing countermeasures against enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, as well as conducting combat operations under the impact of unmanned aerial vehicles, including FPV drones.
“The exercise also included live launches: they were carried out both during the day and at night, in difficult weather conditions. The missile troops coped with all tasks with distinction.
Each unit acted autonomously, but within a common plan under unified command. Summing up the preliminary results of the exercise, I note that the missile forces are ready to carry out their assigned tasks,” Chekhau added.
