Belarusian company BelAgroGen and the Zimbabwean government are planning to sign an agreement to launch veterinary vaccine production in Zimbabwe. The project is valued at $50 million, The Herald reports.
The draft agreement is currently undergoing the necessary approval procedures within the Zimbabwean government.
BelAgroGen Deputy Director Andrei Malchan said the project is intended to provide a regional solution to livestock diseases.
“The idea is for Zimbabwe to take a leading role in protecting livestock across the region. We are talking about creating a project that will serve the whole of southern Africa, and we are going to build it right here,” he said.
The investment project is expected to be implemented in stages over a three-year period. During the first phase, BelAgroGen will begin supplying Zimbabwe with registered veterinary vaccines and pharmaceutical products. This will be followed by the establishment of local processing and repackaging facilities. The final stage предусматривает the construction of a joint venture to manufacture veterinary vaccines and medicines.
