A 34-year-old worker, Aliaksei Charapok, has died at Belaruskali, Nasha Niva reports. It is the second death at the company in recent days.
According to the publication, Aliaksei was killed at the Biarozauski mine. He worked in the underground internal transport section. While unloading rollers for conveyor belts, he was crushed by a loader. The company did not publicly report the fatality.
Aliaksei Charapok was an athlete who played futsal in Salihorsk and for the Ares team from Liuban, and also took part in half-marathons. His teammates described him as “a bright person and a devoted friend”. He is survived by a young daughter.
The previous fatal accident occurred on the evening of June 11. At a depth of 620 metres, a salt-concrete barrier being constructed collapsed. A 50-year-old mine support worker was killed. A 34-year-old tractor driver sustained serious injuries, while an 18-year-old student of the Salihorsk Mining and Chemical College who was undergoing practical training at the mine suffered a leg injury. A criminal case has been opened.
