Belarusian cyclist Siarhei Buzo has been traveling across Brazil by bicycle since early 2021. He is now riding through the last five unbeaten states in Amazonia. There, on the BR-319 highway, he encountered a jaguar. He filmed the incident, and the video went viral in Brazil.

Belarusian media often write about him. This is not his first long-distance bicycle journey — in 2018 he had already cycled across Japan.

Recently, while riding along BR-319 deep in Amazonia, he suddenly saw a jaguar jump out in front of him and begin to chase him.

Footage shows that Serge did not panic. Instead, he tried to scare the animal away with shouting and characteristic profane phrases. He was holding a large machete, but that did not stop the jaguar, and the predator moved toward him. Serge had to escape on his bicycle while continuing to film.

He posted the video on his Instagram blog and added a comment in Portuguese.

Local media paid attention to the incident. In their coverage, outlets called him “Russian”, but the white-red-white flag on his bicycle leaves no doubt — the man in the video is Belarusian.
