The prosecutor’s office has reported a violation of labor legislation involving members of a student work brigade in the Krasnapolle District.
The inspection was launched following a complaint from the “legal representative of a minor.” It found that 19 underage members of the student work brigade and their adult commander had been employed by an enterprise. Under the Labor Code, student work brigade members are entitled to guarantees ensuring compliance with the statutory minimum wage.
“However, in practice, the members of the student work brigade did not receive the minimum wage to which they were entitled. The total amount of unpaid wages exceeded 5,000 Belarusian rubles,” the prosecutor’s office said.
Following an order from the prosecutor’s office, all 20 members of the student work brigade received additional payments bringing their wages up to the statutory minimum. Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the head of the enterprise.
