Human rights center Viasna has information on at least 184 confirmed defendants in the “Hajun case” who have been placed in custody. It notes that the total number of detainees is significantly higher — human rights defenders are aware of a number of detentions that took place recently, including in February.

Trials in the “Hajun case” are taking place almost every day. Since the beginning of the year, 278 people convicted of “facilitating extremism” have been added to the Interior Ministry’s extremist list — the overwhelming majority of them are connected to the “Hajun case.”

According to Viasna, most defendants in the case are sentenced to restricted freedom served at home, although there are also known cases of actual imprisonment.

Belarusian Hajun is an OSINT monitoring project that tracks the military activity of Russian and Belarusian troops. The monitoring group was created before the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war by activist Anton Matolka. In early February 2025, security forces gained access to the chat linked to the project’s bot. After that, the project announced that it was ceasing operations.
