Ukraine’s separate mechanised brigade “Mahura” captured a Belarusian citizen who had been fighting on the side of Russia. A soldier from the brigade carried the wounded Belarusian mercenary for about 10 kilometres across mined fields.
The Belarusian citizen, who identified himself as Yury Vasilievich Malyshchytski, had signed a contract with the Russian army and was fighting on Ukrainian territory. At some point, he decided to surrender and headed toward Ukrainian positions, but stepped on a mine. Soldiers of the 47th brigade found the wounded man after hearing his cries and carried him off the battlefield.
“I carried him so that he could be exchanged for one of our guys,” said a soldier with the call sign “Lyut”.
