Two Men Die From Drug Poisoning in Minsk

Two men have died from drug poisoning in Minsk. One of them was found by his wife on a stairwell, while the other had been out of contact with relatives for several days.

The first case occurred on April 20. A woman found her husband unconscious on a staircase in the entrance of an apartment building. She called an ambulance and attempted to revive him before paramedics arrived. After resuscitation efforts, medical personnel pronounced the man dead, the Investigative Committee reported.

Investigators found a fresh injection mark on the man’s body and an empty syringe package in his trouser pocket. The syringe itself, containing biological traces of the deceased, was later discovered near a rubbish container.

A forensic examination concluded that the man died from acute combined poisoning caused by particularly dangerous narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The second case involved a 44-year-old man who had not contacted his relatives for several days. His mother went to his home and found him showing no signs of life. Paramedics arriving at the scene confirmed his death.

At first glance, it appeared that the Minsk resident had died from a medical condition. However, forensic experts later determined that he had died from acute narcotic drug poisoning.

In both cases, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 5 of Article 328 of the Criminal Code, which covers the illegal acquisition, storage and transportation of particularly dangerous narcotic drugs on a large scale for the purpose of distribution by an organised group, resulting in a person’s death through negligence.
