A total of 809,900 people in Belarus are covered by voluntary health insurance programmes, according to data published by the Belarusian Finance Ministry. Their number has increased 3.1-fold over the past five years.
Corporate clients account for the majority of those insured.
In January-May this year, health insurance payouts totalled 1.6 million Belarusian rubles, up 7% from a year earlier. Medical institutions were reimbursed 136.9 million Belarusian rubles in expenses, an increase of 17% compared with the same period last year.
