Polish border guards, together with officers of the National Revenue Administration, detained two Belarusian citizens on suspicion of transporting drugs and psychotropic substances.

According to the Nadodrze Border Guard Department, anti-smuggling operations were conducted on the A4 highway in late October. In a truck traveling from Spain, Polish officers found two hidden compartments containing ten packages of marijuana weighing about 5 kilograms, as well as sixteen packages of psychotropic substances. The shipment’s total value was estimated at 244,000 zlotys (nearly 67,000 U.S. dollars).

Two Belarusian citizens — the driver and a passenger, both in their early twenties — were traveling in the truck. They did not admit to transporting the prohibited substances.

By court order, the Belarusians were placed under arrest for three months. An investigation is underway.
