Belarusian Prime Minister Aliaksandr Turchyn met with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow. Turchyn arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit to participate in an event held in the CIS format.

According to the government press service, during the meeting the prime minister noted productive cooperation within international organisations. In the humanitarian sphere, relations in education are particularly illustrative. A large number of students from Turkmenistan study at Belarusian universities.

There is potential for growth in bilateral trade. Among the promising areas are the agro-industrial sector and transport infrastructure.

“In recent years, our bilateral trade volume has been steadily increasing every year. Belarusian products are in demand in Turkmenistan, in particular dairy products, pharmaceuticals and wood-processing products. I can note that in recent years the volume of supplies from Turkmenistan to Belarus has also been growing.”, commented Belarusian Ambassador to Turkmenistan Stanislau Chepurnoi.

According to him, preparations are underway for a visit by a Turkmen delegation to the Belagro exhibition.
