Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya commented on the decision by Alyaksandr Lukashenka to “pardon” 15 people convicted under “extremism” articles.
“Joy for everyone who will soon be home with their family. But along with the joy I feel great pain for everyone who remains behind bars,” she wrote.
Earlier on Thursday, Lukashenka signed a decree pardoning 18 people, 15 of whom had been convicted under “extremism” articles. Most of those pardoned are women, and six of them have children with disabilities. Among those pardoned are also two married couples, a pregnant woman and a person who committed a crime at the age of 16.
