Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya held a meeting with members of the Lithuanian Seimas group “For Democratic Belarus”. Representatives of both the ruling coalition and the opposition of the Lithuanian parliament took part in the talks, the Office of the Belarusian politician reported.

The sides discussed the current political situation and regional security issues, as well as further steps to secure the release of Belarusian political prisoners and matters related to sanctions on the transit of potash fertilisers. Special attention was given to the problems faced by Belarusians living in Lithuania and to the situation surrounding the Belarusian House in Vilnius.

The preparation of a cooperation agreement between the democratic forces of Belarus and the Lithuanian Seimas was also reviewed. Tsikhanouskaya expressed gratitude to the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs for approving the document.

The democratic leader invited Lithuanian deputies to take part in the fourth meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance for Democratic Belarus, which is planned in London, and also proposed holding one of the next meetings in Lithuania during its presidency of the European Union.
