A tractor unit listed as stolen in Germany was detained at the Lithuanian-Belarusian border on March 28. It was being driven into Belarus by a Lithuanian citizen.
On the morning of March 28, Lithuanian border guards at the Šalčininkai checkpoint inspected a Volvo tractor unit driven by a 50-year-old Lithuanian man. The vehicle documents did not raise suspicion, but a check of the VIN number revealed that the truck had been stolen in Germany on March 25, the Lithuanian Border Guard Service reported.
A criminal investigation has been opened. The driver was questioned as a witness and released. The tractor unit has been placed in temporary storage with the border guard unit.
