Traffic police officers used a firearm to stop a drunk driver in the Maladzyechna District.

According to the Interior Ministry’s press service, police received a report from a petrol station operator about an intoxicated man driving a Hyundai. A traffic police patrol was dispatched to the scene.

Shortly afterwards, officers located the vehicle near the village of Myasota. The driver was ordered to stop but ignored the instruction, prompting a pursuit.

“The offender repeatedly ignored the lawful demands of the police officers and attempted to flee. His actions posed a real threat to the safety of other road users. The inspectors decided to use their service firearm to stop the vehicle,” the Interior Ministry said.

The driver was identified as a 39-year-old resident of Minsk. A medical examination found 1.58 per mille of alcohol in his breath.

Three administrative reports were filed against the man. He was placed in a temporary detention facility. The vehicle has been impounded and placed in a secured parking lot.
