Three men died in a fire in Lida, the press service of the Investigative Committee reported. The preliminary cause of the fire was careless handling of fire while smoking.
The report of a fire in the apartment was received at about 11:00 p.m. on April 19. While extinguishing the blaze, rescuers found the bodies of three people — the 66-year-old owner of the apartment and two guests, aged 39 and 56. The apartment on the floor above was also damaged. According to neighbors, the owner had invited the two acquaintances over the previous day and had been drinking alcohol with them.
An investigator, with the involvement of specialists from the State Committee of Forensic Examinations for the Hrodna Region and Emergency Ministry personnel, inspected the scene. The circumstances of the deaths are being established by the Lida District Department of the Investigative Committee.
