Three Belarusians — Viktoryia M., Anton M. and Uladzimir U. — as well as two Ukrainians, Oleksandr S. and Sofiia Ch., were detained on 25–26 November in Warsaw and Białystok. They have been charged with activities carried out in the interests of foreign intelligence against Poland, the Polish National Prosecutor’s Office reported.
According to the Polish Internal Security Agency (ABW), the suspects were recruited by a moderator on Telegram and “carried out acts of sabotage” against Poland: “They performed and transmitted photographic documentation of facilities, thereby obtaining information about critical infrastructure, systems, and sites essential for the security of Poland and its citizens, hung posters, and painted graffiti.”
“In addition, these individuals were prepared to carry out instructions and other tasks assigned by those directing this structure, for which they received payment from a cryptocurrency wallet. These actions correspond to the established and well-known modus operandi of Russian intelligence,” ABW stated.
According to investigators, the suspects conducted their activities from March 2024 to February 2025 in Warsaw, Łódź, Rzeszów, and other locations in Poland.
On 26–27 November, investigative actions involving the suspects took place at the Lublin branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office.
A court ordered three of them — Oleksandr S., Anton M., and Viktoryia M. — to be held in custody for three months.
The minor Sofiia Ch. has been placed in a juvenile shelter for three months. Due to poor health (he is currently in hospital), Uladzimir U. was placed under a travel ban and prohibited from leaving Poland.
The investigation is ongoing. Evidence continues to be collected and assessed.
