Sorokin’s and Burroughs’ Books Added to the List of Banned Publications in Belarus

The Ministry of Information has added 52 books to the list of banned publications. The list includes a book on the history of the Belarusian People’s Republic, three novels by Vladimir Sorokin, several novels by William Burroughs, and the “Pilotages” cycle by Bayan Shiryanov.

The decision to ban the books was made by the Republican Commission for the Evaluation of Symbols, Attributes and Information Products.
“All these publications are capable of harming the national interests of our country,” the Ministry of Information said.
