Summer cottage owners from privileged categories will pay for electricity at a separate subsidised tariff. The corresponding resolution was signed by Belarusian Prime Minister Alyaksandr Turchyn.

The document establishes the procedure for electricity payments by certain subscribers living in garden houses and summer cottages whose electrical installations are directly connected to the power grids of energy supply organisations within the Belenergo system, according to the government’s press service.

The privileged categories include non-working pensioners, citizens entitled to benefits for electricity supply services and people with third-degree disabilities who are registered as residing in garden houses and summer cottages.

They will be able to pay for electricity at a separate subsidised tariff of 0.12 Belarusian roubles per kilowatt-hour. However, the following conditions must be met:

  • there must be a technical passport for the garden house or summer cottage,
  • the person must be registered as residing in the garden house or summer cottage,
  • the garden house or summer cottage must not have centralised heating or gas supply systems,
  • there must be a stationary electric stove or hob.
