Polish Druzhba oil pipeline operator PERN is involved in supplying crude oil to the Schwedt refinery.
The company said crude oil for the refinery is delivered to Gdańsk and then transported to Schwedt through the pipeline system.
The arrangement comes as Russia has suspended the transit of Kazakh oil through the Druzhba pipeline.
The oil for the refinery is imported by UNIMOT Paliwa. The same company was involved in organising supplies of U.S. oil to Belarus in 2020.
PERN also said in its statement that a new deep-water terminal is being built at the Naftoport facility in Gdańsk and will be able to receive VLCC-class tankers. As a result, oil transshipment capacity in Gdańsk could reach 9 million tonnes per year.
