The LSTR Adzieńnie brand was founded by Illia Aksionau in late 2011. The project began with a small batch of hats featuring the Kalumny symbol, which quickly sold out among young people in Minsk, and soon grew into a cultural phenomenon of the era of “soft Belarusianisation”. The company made the Belarusian language, history and urban symbols elements of contemporary urban fashion, offering a stylish and at times ironic take on national identity.

Over the years, the company created dozens of notable releases that achieved cult status. They included the legendary T-shirts featuring the “Winged Hussar of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania”, hoodies featuring Kastuś Kalinouski, and collections dedicated to Minsk’s microcosm, ranging from socks with the metro logo to prints featuring the iconic Tsentralny department store. Releases steeped in nostalgia for Belarusian pop culture also held a special place in LSTR’s history, including popular collections featuring Dzed Baradzed and the cult alien Patsy-Vatsy.

Last week, two other clothing brands that worked with the theme of national identity, Honar and Ragna, also announced that they were ceasing operations.
