The Polish Border Guard recorded nearly 40 attempts by migrants to cross the border from Belarus between Friday and Sunday. Such a busy weekend has not been seen in Polish border guard statistics for a long time.
Eighteen attempts were thwarted on Friday, nine on Saturday and 10 on Sunday.
“Some of the migrants retreated deeper into Belarus, while the others were detained on the Polish side,” the Border Guard said.
Citizens of Afghanistan and Pakistan attempted to cross the border.
In addition, border guards detained a Ukrainian citizen over the weekend who had come to pick up five people who had crossed the border.
