Polish customs officers discovered contraband in six cars entering Poland from Belarus. In all cases, the drivers were Belarusian citizens.
The vehicles were inspected at the Bobrowniki border crossing point. Cigarettes were found in the dashboards and body elements of the cars, and in one case even inside the strut towers. In total, nearly 2,700 packs of cigarettes worth more than 55,000 zlotys ($15,300) were seized.
Five of the drivers were fined a total of nearly 50,000 zlotys ($14,000). Criminal proceedings were launched against the sixth driver. His car was also confiscated, the Tax and Customs Chamber in Białystok reports.
