On the night of January 17, several dozen unidentified objects entered Polish airspace from the territory of Belarus, Poland’s National Security Bureau said.
The incident was monitored throughout the night by military and civilian services. The authorities do not rule out that what happened may have been a provocation disguised as smuggling activity.
The National Security Bureau said it monitored the situation all night, collecting and analyzing data received from military and civilian agencies.
“As in the case of the incident on the night of December 24–25, 2025, when 59 objects entered Polish airspace from the Belarusian direction, the National Security Bureau does not rule out that we are dealing with a provocation under the guise of smuggling,” the statement said.
Polish authorities urged citizens to follow official announcements from the police and the Polish Border Guard. If any objects, packages, or fragments that may be linked to the incident are found, citizens are asked not to approach them and to immediately notify the relevant services.
