Belarus’s new ambassador to Russia, Yury Seliverstau, held a meeting of the Interdepartmental Working Group responsible for monitoring the situation with supplies to Russia.
According to the embassy, Seliverstau noted that exports to Russia grew by 4.6% last year. He said exports of agricultural products showed strong growth, while industrial enterprises experienced a decline.
The ambassador also outlined tasks for 2026:
— intensifying participation in Russian state-supported programs and national projects;
— developing joint production and industrial cooperation in high-tech sectors and import substitution;
— working with Russian partners to prevent the creation of duplicate (excess) production capacities within the Union State;
— establishing systematic cooperation with Russian state corporations;
— creating new and developing existing multi-brand sales and service centers for Belarusian machinery in Russian regions;
— improving the efficiency of product sales strategies (increasing direct supplies and reducing reliance on intermediaries);
— further expanding interregional cooperation.
During the meeting, special attention was given to reducing warehouse inventories and unloading the warehouses of Belarusian enterprises’ distribution networks in Russia. In January, inventories of Belarusian industry exceeded 12 billion rubles. Over the month they increased by 800 million rubles.
“We also examined in detail the planned changes in Russian legislation and exchanged views on the readiness of our enterprises for the introduction in Russia of product marking systems using identification tools,” the embassy added.
