In May, 23,640 tonnes of Belarusian gasoline were sold on the St. Petersburg Exchange, TASS reported, citing the National Exchange Agency. Sales volumes increased 26-fold compared with the same month in 2025. In May of last year, only 900 tonnes of gasoline from Belarusian refineries were sold on the exchange.

Compared with April of this year, sales of Belarusian fuel through the exchange increased by 16.6%, or 3,360 tonnes.

Sales of Belarusian diesel fuel also increased, though less dramatically. They tripled to reach 49,860 tonnes. Compared with April, diesel sales rose by a factor of 3.3.

The report notes that the highest monthly sales volumes of Belarusian gasoline last year were between 35,000 and 37,000 tonnes, recorded from October to December.

Demand for Belarusian gasoline has increased amid attacks on Russian oil refineries and seasonal growth in fuel consumption.

As noted by Kommersant last week, buyers are interested in imported fuel because of “the actual availability of supply and delivery times to destinations.” Belarusian fuel is also sold at higher prices than Russian fuel, although this is primarily due to price restrictions imposed on Russian producers. Without those restrictions, the exchange price of Russian fuel would be comparable to that of Belarusian products.

It became known yesterday that the Russian government is discussing increasing fuel supplies from Belarus to meet demand on the domestic Russian market. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has instructed relevant agencies to hold consultations with the Belarusian side on increasing gasoline deliveries.
