Authorities in Russia’s Smolensk and Pskov regions have stopped shipments of food products transported from Belarus without the required documentation.
On June 13, inspectors from Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) in the Smolensk region stopped a truck carrying 18 tonnes of cucumbers. The vehicle was traveling from Trostenets to Moscow. During the inspection, officials found that the information contained in the phytosanitary certificate did not match the data indicated on the product labeling.
The truck and its cargo were returned to Belarus. The carrier was held administratively liable, Rosselkhoznadzor reported.
In the Pskov region, authorities detained three shipments of sausages, frankfurters and sour cream weighing a total of 5.5 tonnes. None of the drivers had the required veterinary accompanying documents. In two cases, the products were transported without refrigeration equipment. The cargo was returned to Belarus, and the drivers were held administratively liable.
