Russia has resumed strikes against Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
“Russia itself chose to end the partial silence that had lasted for several days. During this night, more than 200 attack drones were launched at Ukraine. Aerial bombs were again used on the frontline — more than 80, and more than 30 airstrikes were recorded,” he wrote.
Drones were intercepted in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions, as well as in Kyiv and the surrounding region.
“There has been damage to energy facilities, apartment buildings and a kindergarten, and there was also a strike on an ordinary civilian locomotive on the railway… It is known that there are wounded as a result of these strikes. Unfortunately, there are also fatalities. My condolences to the families and loved ones,” Zelenskyy added.
He stressed that Ukraine would respond symmetrically to all Russian actions.
“Russia must end this war, and it is Russia that must take a step toward a real, lasting ceasefire. Until this happens, sanctions against Moscow are necessary and must continue to work and be strengthened. It is important that there are no relaxations and that partners do not stand aside, but continue joint work for security, justice and a reliable peace,” the Ukrainian president concluded.
The Russian strikes were carried out overnight immediately after the previously agreed ceasefire expired.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia used a total of 216 drones of various types. Ukrainian air defence neutralized 192 drones. Hits by 25 UAVs were recorded in 10 locations, while debris from downed drones fell in five additional locations.
