Russia launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine overnight, using drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles. Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia were among the cities targeted.
Poland scrambled fighter jets and raised the readiness level of its air defence systems in response to the attack.
According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, four people were killed and 58 injured in Kyiv, including three children. A strike hit a nine-storey residential building, causing a partial collapse of the structure. People may still be trapped under the rubble.
Another nine-storey apartment building suffered damage to its facade and roof. Fires broke out in 20- and 24-storey residential buildings in another district. A market was also damaged. Fires involving vehicles and buildings were reported across the city.
Later in the morning, Russia launched a second attack on Kyiv using ballistic missiles.
In Kharkiv, residential buildings, outbuildings, garages and vehicles caught fire, while apartment blocks and private homes were damaged. According to preliminary information, 14 people were injured, including one child.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, six people were killed, including one emergency responder, and 36 others were injured. Authorities reported partial destruction of two- and four-storey residential buildings, an industrial facility, garages and vehicles. Search-and-rescue operations are continuing, and people may remain trapped beneath the debris.
