Russia’s agricultural watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor banned the import into Russia of nettle leaves, seedlings and plant seeds that were being transported from Belarus.
Two vehicles were stopped in Russia’s Smolensk region near the border with Belarus on April 10-12. A total of 250 kg of dried nettle leaves were being transported from the Minsk region to Russia’s Sverdlovsk region, while 393 seedlings and 220 packets of seeds were being shipped to the Moscow region.
In both cases, the transporters did not have phytosanitary certificates for the cargo. They were held administratively liable. The goods were returned to Belarus.
