Romania has informed NATO about the incident involving a Russian drone that crashed into a residential building in the border city of Galați. This was stated by Oana Țoiu.
“Romania has informed its allies and the NATO Secretary General of the circumstances and has requested measures to accelerate the transfer of counter-drone capabilities to Romania,” she wrote.
The Romanian foreign minister described the incident as a serious and irresponsible escalation by Russia. She said Romania would take diplomatic measures in response.
“The Russian Federation remains an aggressor state waging an illegal war with serious consequences for regional security.
The Russian Federation bears direct responsibility for these serious and irresponsible actions.
Romania will act with the utmost determination to increase international pressure on the Russian Federation in order to achieve an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire,” she added.
Earlier today, a Russian drone used in an attack on Ukraine’s Odesa region entered Romanian airspace and crashed into an apartment building. A fire broke out, and two people sustained minor injuries.
