Belarus’s ambassador to Russia, Aliaksandr Rahozhnik, expects trade turnover between Belarus and Russia to exceed $60 billion by the end of 2025. He voiced this forecast in a conversation with journalists, BelTA reported.

“This year is another record year. I hope we will finish 2025 with more than $60 billion. Therefore, despite all the difficulties that are arising today due to the cooling of the Russian economy, this has not become an obstacle for us, and we are still moving forward with growth,” he said.

According to him, Western sanctions have virtually no impact on trade interaction between Belarus and Russia.

“Today we practically do not feel these sanctions anymore, all issues have essentially been resolved. Yes, at the beginning there were logistics-related issues, but today, with Russia’s support in exporting our products, we are not experiencing any difficulties,” the diplomat assured.

He was asked which Russian region cooperation with had been the most successful in 2025.

“I would really not like to single out any one region, because every region has its own highlights. This includes the construction of schools in Voronezh Region, a major project currently being considered for the supply of equipment to Kirov Region, an excellent project for supplying equipment to Krasnoyarsk Krai, to St Petersburg, and a wonderful project in Tatarstan as well. In all regions — from Vladivostok to Pskov — we have a very, very extensive agenda. This includes gasification, construction of kindergartens, construction of maternity hospitals, and the supply of industrial goods,” the ambassador replied.

He also spoke about successes in food supplies.

“We have moved to direct contracts with all major retail chains that today effectively shape the entire trade turnover within the Russian Federation. We have also resolved the issue of access for light industry goods to these chains and opened a branded zone in a retail network selling household goods and appliances. This is a large layer of work that has finally been moved off dead centre,” Rahozhnik said.

He also stated that a key task set by Alyaksandr Lukashenka — eliminating intermediary links that previously existed — has been fulfilled.

“Today we are increasing profitability for our producers,” the diplomat said.
