The Economy Ministry has published the results of its May business survey, which indicate a slight increase in production capacity utilization.
“The production capacity utilization rate increased by 1 percentage point compared with April and reached 67%,” the ministry said.
The indicator measuring order coverage also increased. In May, it stood at three months of work compared with 2.9 months in April.
Positive or stable demand dynamics were reported by 70% of survey participants, while 68% of respondents said output had either increased or remained unchanged.
Survey participants expect demand to pick up during the summer. This outlook was shared by 44% of respondents. Meanwhile, 45% expect production to increase and 40% anticipate higher profits.
Over the next three months, 93% of respondents forecast that investment activity will either remain at its current level or increase. In May, the main areas of investment were the modernization (75%) and expansion (36%) of production capacity. Investments in resource efficiency and reducing labor costs were reported by 24% and 17% of companies, respectively.
