Police Detain Men Who Transported 32 Kg Of Gunpowder From Poland

The Interior Ministry’s press service reported the detention of a 35-year-old resident of Brest and a 37-year-old resident of the Malaryta district. They are accused of illegally transporting gunpowder across the border.

“The suspects, under operational control of police officers, brought prohibited cargo from Poland and stored it in a warehouse in the regional center. At the moment of dispatching the dangerous goods to Russia, with force support from officers of the ‘Shtorm’ special unit of the Internal Troops of the Interior Ministry and traffic police officers, a truck belonging to a Brest-based organization was detained on the M1 highway. It contained and 32 kg of a substance which, according to an expert conclusion, is gunpowder,” the ministry’s press service said.

A criminal case has been opened. Investigators are attempting to identify the recipients of the cargo in Russia, as well as their motives and objectives.
