The Office of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has warned about an increase in cases of fraud involving people impersonating its employees or representatives. According to the office, scammers are contacting people from newly created accounts and phone numbers, attempting to gain their trust or obtain personal information.
The office urged people not to trust a message simply because the sender claims to be one of its employees. It also prepared answers to the most frequently asked security-related questions.
Representatives of the Belarusian democratic forces recommend always verifying contact details using the official list available on the tsikhanouskaya.org website. If a fake account is discovered, they advise reporting it to the office and submitting a request to the relevant messaging platform to have the account removed.
