More than 1,300 people, including 700 foreigners, are now reported missing after a landslide and subsequent flooding in the border region of Nepal and China.
According to Reuters, citing Nepalese authorities, 165 people have died and 826 are missing, including around 500 foreign tourists: 177 Indian nationals, 63 U.S. citizens, 34 Australians, 33 Britons and 25 Canadians.
According to Chinese authorities, 558 people are missing in Tibet as a result of the natural disaster, including 260 foreigners.
On Thursday morning, the Nepalese army used helicopters to rescue more than 100 people from flood-affected areas. At least eight foreign nationals were airlifted to the country’s capital.
The bodies of some of those killed were found about 100 km downstream from the disaster zone.
