Around 700 trucks have returned to Lithuania from Belarus, while another 300 are awaiting entry into Lithuania. Storage services at designated parking facilities have been paid for 1,000 vehicles, reports the State Customs Committee of Belarus.
The committee criticizes the Lithuanian side for insufficient speed: over the past 24 hours at Medininkai, Lithuanian customs processed 14% of its capacity (74 trucks), and at Šalčininkai — 38% (96 trucks).
It should be recalled that since autumn 2025, Belarus had been holding trucks with Lithuanian registration in response to Lithuania’s border closure. According to the State Customs Committee, more than 1,900 vehicles were located at designated parking facilities in Belarus. Belarus allowed trucks to leave starting from March 23, following talks between Aliaksandr Lukashenka and John Coale, a special envoy of the US president. Carriers are allowed to retrieve their trucks after paying storage fees.
