Minsktrans will activate passenger-operated door-opening buttons on public transport vehicles equipped with such systems starting May 1. The system will operate in test mode.
“Passengers will be able to open the doors themselves by pressing a button to enter or exit the vehicle.
The door-opening buttons are easy to spot, as they have a distinctive housing and additional LED lighting”, Minsktrans said.
The buttons will not function while the vehicle is moving. They will only be activated once the vehicle comes to a complete stop.
Minsktrans believes that selective door opening will make trips more comfortable and help preserve warmth inside public transport in winter and cool air in summer.
Currently, all doors on public transport are opened by the driver. It should be noted that not all vehicles in Minsktrans’s fleet are equipped with these buttons.
