Mikola Zakharanka Wins Mikhas Straltsou Literary Prize

Mikola Zakharanka, a poet, prose writer and playwright, has won the Mikhas Straltsou Literary Prize.

As part of the award, the laureate received the opportunity to publish his book of poems “On The Edge Of The Earth.”

Mikola Zakharanka’s book “On The Edge Of The Earth” includes prose, poetry and essays. The plot-driven stories are populated by recognisable characters from the Polesia hinterland. The tragedy and festive joy of their lives appear illuminated from within by the semi-fairytale light of folkloric history.

The winner was announced on the first day of the International Poetry Festival “Poems On The Asphalt” held in memory of Mikhas Straltsou.

The festival will continue on February 14 and 15. A live broadcast is available online.
