Meteorologists have lowered the weather danger level to orange. Earlier, a red alert had been issued in Belarus due to a passing snow cyclone.

“During the day on 9 January (Friday), difficult weather conditions will persist: in most of the territory heavy snow, blizzard, snowdrifts on the roads, and wind gusts of 15–20 m/s. In Minsk, heavy snow, blizzard, and snowdrifts on the roads are expected,” the statement said.

A cyclone has covered the country, bringing heavy snowfalls, blizzards, and strong winds. Over the past 24 hours, weather conditions have already disrupted power supply in 251 settlements. In the morning, public transport in the Belarusian capital was operating with interruptions. Yesterday, the “Weather” plan was introduced across most of the country. The Belarusian Railway reported train delays. The Emergency Ministry reported rescuing more than 100 vehicles from snowdrifts. The Interior Ministry will deploy heavy equipment of the internal troops, including armored personnel carriers, on the roads to provide assistance.
