MAZ plans to deliver 100 MAZ 303E electric buses and 120 MAZ 216 diesel buses to St. Petersburg by the end of this year, the company’s press service reported.
On Wednesday, Chairman of the St. Petersburg Transport Committee Valentin Enokaev and General Director of SPB GUP “Passazhiravtotrans” Andrei Lyzin visited MAZ and held talks with its General Director Valery Ivankovich.
Enokaev noted that the Russian city has implemented the “monopak” concept based on the Kolpino bus depot, which operates exclusively with buses produced by the Minsk Automobile Plant.
Previously, MAZ fulfilled contracts to supply about one thousand buses to St. Petersburg. Relations between the plant and the Russian city have not always been smooth due to frequent fires involving Belarusian buses — a problem even commented on by Alexander Lukashenko.
