Aliaksandr Lukashenka said that about 500 negligent officials and specialists have been sent to the army. Speaking during a visit to Vileyka, he demanded that all farmland in the Minsk Region be returned to agricultural use next year and said that battalion tactical groups formed from negligent officials and specialists could be used for the task.
“All fields must be returned to crop rotation next year. Every single one. Do whatever you have to do. Bring in whoever you want. Take those two battalion tactical groups that were formed from negligent officials and specialists. You know what I’m talking about. There are about 500 of them now. I call them two battalion tactical groups. Please make them work here in the name of the revolution. Do whatever you want, but get everything in order. Take a helicopter and fly around, and you’ll see exactly what I told you,” he said.
As previously reported, in July Aliaksandr Lukashenka ordered that negligent officials and agricultural workers be called up for military training if they were unable to perform their duties properly during the harvest campaign. Following those remarks, Defense Minister Viktar Khrenin instructed military commissars to inspect agricultural enterprises across the country.
