Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that the Oreshnik system has been in Belarus since yesterday and has gone on combat duty. He made the statement during his speech at the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly.

“Strategic defense is also ensured by our military cooperation, above all with the Russian Federation. Therefore, Belarus and Russia are implementing a set of strategic deterrence measures — this is the deployment on our territory of the Russian component of the regional group of forces. In the event of an escalation of conflicts, it is stipulated that the armed forces — several tens of thousands of personnel — in western Russia will immediately join the military confrontation as a second echelon. Belarus goes first — we must respond. Then the Russian Federation supports us.

This is what the regional group of forces is. And the tactical nuclear weapons that we returned to Belarus. In addition, the first positions have been equipped with the Oreshnik missile system: it has been with us since yesterday and has gone on combat duty,” he said.

As a reminder, earlier Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that he did not need Poseidon or Burevestnik and confirmed that Oreshnik would go on combat duty in December and would patrol over Belarus.

On December 17, Vladimir Putin said that the Oreshnik system would be placed on combat duty by the end of the year.
